Outreach & Social JusticeBarrie Community Breakfast Program Coalition (previously known as Breakfast-To-Go) - We felt it necessary to share some wonderful news in regards to the BTG program BAUC sponsors. Along with five other churches, we were very fortunate to have received grant money from the County and the Province. This money will meet our financial needs for the remainder of 2024. This money is only for this year without any certainty for 2025 and beyond, so any past or future donations to date will be allocated accordingly. Most importantly, thank you for your support of this vital community service that Burton continues to play a significant role in! If there’s any questions to the above, please direct them to Andrew Telford.
The Barrie Community Breakfast Program Coalition, with the support of the Busby Centre, is a group of six churches and community-minded citizens that serve breakfast between 8:00-9:00 am, 7 days a week to the most vulnerable in our community. We serve out of Trinity Anglican Church (fall/winter) and Collier Street United Church (spring/summer). We are in great need of volunteers to contribute to this cause in a safe and supportive environment for the days of Friday through Sunday. If this is something that resonates with you, please contact program coordinator, Andrew Telford at your earliest convenience. PIE Day - March 14 is PIE Day. The United Church of Canada joins Affirm United and Affirming Connections in urging individuals and communities of faith across Canada to commit to concerted efforts to be Public, Intentional, and Explicit (PIE) in the public square. Click here to join the call to action to promote and protect the rights and freedoms of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, particularly the outward acts of transphobia. Your voice represents a commitment to fostering welcoming and affirming spaces for all members, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. We believe that all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals are created in the Divine image and that advocacy for their human rights is not antithetical to faith, but a central tenet of our religious faiths. Click here to sign this open letter to support faith communities committed to upholding the full and comprehensive human rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. Communities of faith are also called to show up in public places to support gender and sexual diversity, especially now when challenges to human rights in Canada are leading to vulnerability, silencing, and violence against 2SLGBTQIA+ people. Click here to watch a 2024 PIE Day message from United Church of Canada Moderator, the Right Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne, encouraging faithful and intentional witness to this affirming work. We are all called to be present—to broadly heed the challenge to actively work towards a vision of a more loving, boundless, expansive faith—a faith that breaks binaries and reminds us that we are all created in the diversity of God.

If you have a concern about your image being used in these situations, please let us know. PASTORAL CARE We keep in touch through phone calls, emails and even snail mail. What a blessing it is that we can connect to one another in those ways. Remember that Pastoral Care is a ministry that all of us share and need to participate in, however we can. Whether you are making contact or receiving contact, we are caring for one another. Whether you are on the prayer list or you are praying for those on the list, we are caring for one another. Whether you are listening to someone's concerns or you are voicing your worries, we are caring for one another. For the month of November, we give thanks and pray for the work of Samaritan House. They provide safe housing for women & children recovering from domestic abuse. Their Resource Centre Drop In here at BAUC is a place where families can enjoy a cup of tea & select from articles of clothing & household items. They also provide workplace skills, knowledge & guidance. |
